Vabljeni na otvoritev razstave "Aktivne programirane počitnice: Mini golf" umetnika Oliverja Musovika, ki bo v četrtek, 15. 12., ob 19.00, v Razstavišču Vetrinjski.

Razstava bo na ogled do 20. 1. 2023, vsak delavnik med 13.00 in 18.00.

O RAZSTAVI

Razvoj turistične industrije je bil politični, gospodarski in družbeni projekt jugoslovanske federativne države ter ključno področje družbenega povezovanja, katerega cilj je bil spremeniti delavce v potrošnike " koristnega" prostega časa. Turizem in potovanja kot prosti čas sta pomembna družbena pojava, ki sta se v 20. stoletju iz kulture elite razvila v množični pojav. Na politični ravni je bil turizem pomemben predmet socialne in nacionalne politike pri oblikovanju socialistične države.

Začetek industrializacije naj bi spremljalo predvideno dopolnilo industrijskemu delu: sprostitev in regeneracija v prostem času in na počitnicah. Vendar je bilo treba nastanek prostočasnih praks pod okriljem države usmerjati. Jugoslovansko komunistično razmišljanje o koristih turizma in rekreacije je odražalo sovjetske ideje o namenski rabi turizma in prostega časa "za povečanje intelektualnega in fizičnega kapitala" s kolektivnim ciljem: vključitvijo v telo naroda in države.

Strokovnjaki za turizem, sociologi in ideologi prostega časa so v tistem času nasprotovali "popolnemu počitku", ki je temeljil na spanju in sončenju. Ideje o rekreacijskem turizmu, preventivnem počitku in aktivnih programiranih počitnicah (aktivni programirani odmor, APO) so prišle v ospredje v začetku sedemdesetih let prejšnjega stoletja. Dopoldnevi so bili zasedeni z obveznim prilagojenim fitnesom v telovadnici, popoldnevi pa z brezplačnimi športnimi dejavnostmi. Od delavcev se je pričakovalo, da se bodo po dopustu fizično bolje počutili in imeli pozitiven odnos do svojega zdravja.

Projekt se loteva primerjalne analize prostega časa v socialistični Jugoslaviji, pri čemer dokumentira ostanke materialne kulture aktivnega počitnikovanja, v tem primeru dva zelo podobna rekreacijska objekta - igrišča za mini golf, na dveh značilnih/oddaljenih geografskih lokacijah: Ohridsko jezero v Severni Makedoniji in obrežje reke Drave v Bresternici pri Mariboru, nekoč del skupne jugoslovanske države.

O AVTORJU

Oliver Musovik (1971) je leta 1997 je diplomiral na Fakulteti za likovno umetnost v Skopju in leta 2004 tam tudi magistriral. Samostojno je razstavljal v Severni Makedoniji, Švici, Sloveniji, Srbiji, Avstraliji in Črni gori. Sodeloval je na številnih mednarodnih razstavah, med drugim na razstavi "SPOZNANJE! UPOR! REAKCIJA! Performans in politika v devetdesetih letih v pojugoslovanskem kontekstu", Ljubljana, 2021; "Solidarity - Now More Than Ever", Weimar, 2019; AFTERMATH - Spreminjanje kulturne pokrajine, Tendence angažirane post-jugoslovanske sodobne fotografije", Ljubljana in gostovanje 2012-14; "ZGODOVINA, SPOMIN, IDENTITETA: Bienale sodobne umetnosti "Heterotopija", Solun, 2007; "V soteskah Balkana", Kassel, 2003; Manifesta 4 - Evropski bienale sodobne umetnosti, Frankfurt, 2002; 6. Istanbulski bienale leta 1999.

Ustvarjal je v mnogih rezidenčnih programih, njegova dela pa so del več javnih zbirk, kot so Muzej sodobne umetnosti, Skopje; Moderna galerija Ljubljana / Muzej sodobne umetnosti Metelkova, Ljubljana; Narodni muzej Črne gore, Cetinje; Državni muzej sodobne umetnosti, Solun; Fondazione Fotografia Modena Cassa di Risparmio di Modena. Njegova dela so bila objavljena v umetniških revijah in knjigah, med drugim v knjigah "Autobiography" (Thames and Hudson, 2004), "Vitamin Ph - New Perspectives in Photography", (Phaidon, 2006), "Photo Art, Photography in the 21st. Century" (Dumont 2007 / Aperture, 2008).

Je soustanovitelj in soustvarjalec galerije Press to Exit v Skopju v obdobju 2002-2004. Od leta 2010 je stalno samozaposlen kot samostojni umetnik. Od leta 2013 do konca leta 2015 je bil član svobodnega umetniškega kolektiva KOOPERACIJA iz Skopja. Zdaj dela kot mentor v projektu za umetnost in civilni aktivizem pri Centru za balkansko sodelovanje LOJA.

You are kindly invited to the opening of the exhibition "Actively Programmed Holidays: Miniature Golf" by artist Oliver Musovik, which will take place on Thursday, 15th of December at 19.00 in the Gallery Vetrinjski.
The exhibition will be on view every wotking day from 1 to 6 pm, until the 20th of January 2023.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

The development of the tourist industry was a political, economic, and social project of the Yugoslav federal state and a crucial field of social integration, aiming to turn workers into consumers of "purposeful" leisure. Tourism and travel as leisure are significant social phenomena that developed from a culture of the elite into a mass phenomenon in the course of the 20th century. On the political level, tourism was an important object of social and national policies in the making of the socialist state.

Kick-start industrialization was to be accompanied by the assumed complement to industrial labor: relaxation and regeneration during leisure time and on holidays. But the emergence of leisure practices under the auspices of the state needed direction. Yugoslav communist thinking on the benefits of tourism and recreation reflected Soviet ideas on the purposeful use of tourism and leisure "to enhance intellectual and physical capital" with a collective goal: integration into the body of the nation and the state.

Tourism experts, sociologists, and leisure ideologists at the time, opposed "complete rest" based on sleeping and sun-bathing. Ideas on recreational tourism, preventive rest, and actively programmed holidays (aktivni programirani odmor, APO) came into focus in the early 1970s.

The mornings were taken up with compulsory customized fitness in a gym and afternoons with free sports activities. The workers were expected to feel physically better after their holiday and to have a positive attitude about their health.

The project undertakes a comparative analysis of leisure time in socialist Yugoslavia, documenting the remnants of the material culture of active holiday-making, in this case, two very similar recreational facilities - miniature golf grounds, at two distinctive/distant geographic locations: Ohrid lake in North Macedonia and the Drava riverbank in Bresternica pri Maribor, once part of the joint Yugoslav state.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Oliver Musovik was Born in Skopje, North Macedonia (1971). He has graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje in 1997, MFA in 2004. He had solo exhibitions in North Macedonia, Switzerland, Slovenia, Serbia, Australia and Montenegro. He had participated at numerous international exhibitions, among others "REALIZE! RESIST! REACT! Performance and Politics in the 1990s in the Post-Yugoslav Context", Ljubljana, 2021; "Solidarity - Now More Than Ever", Weimar, 2019; "AFTERMATH – Changing Cultural Landscape, Tendencies of engaged post- Yugoslavian contemporary photography", Ljubljana and touring in 2012-14; "HISTORY, MEMORY, IDENTITY: Contemporary Photography from Eastern Europe", Modena, 2009; 3rd Bucharest Biennale, 2008; 1st Biennale of Contemporary Art "Heterotopia", Thessaloniki, 2007; "In The Gorges of the Balkans", Kassel, 2003; Manifesta 4 – European Biennale of Contemporary Art, Frankfurt, 2002; 6th Istanbul Biennale in 1999.

He has participated at several artist-in-residency programs ans his works are part of several public collections like the Museum of Contemporary Art, Skopje; Museum of Modern Art / Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova, Ljubljana; National Museum of Montenegro, Cetinje; State Museum of Contemporary Art, Thessaloniki; Fondazione Fotografia Modena Cassa di Risparmio di Modena.
His works have been published in art magazines and books, including "Autobiography" (Thames and Hudson, 2004), "Vitamin Ph – New Perspectives in Photography", (Phaidon, 2006), "Photo Art, Photography in the 21st. Century", (Dumont 2007 / Aperture, 2008).
He is co-founder and co-curator of the Press to Exit Gallery in Skopje in the period 2002-4. Continuously, since 2010 he is self-employed freelance artist. He was a member of the loose artist collective KOOPERACIJA from Skopje from 2013 to its end in 2015. Now works as a trainer in project for art and civic activism with the Center for Balkan Cooperation LOJA.
